Mohammad Reza Shadjarian {Persian: محمدرضا شجريان} (b. 1940) is an Iranian singer, specialising in the performance of classical and traditional Persian music. He is also known as a calligrapher, and a humanitarian campaigner Shadjarian was born on 23rd September 1940 in Mashhad, Iran. He started studying singing at the age of five, under the supervision of his father, and at the age of twelve he began studying the traditional classical repertoire known as the Radif.
