The noise they made has been described as sounding 'like Mates of State covering XTC and Billy Joel with occasional Freddie Mercury vocals', while the band referred to their songs as 'Hyperactive nursery rhymes'. Elle s'appelle enjoyed tour support slots for Hot Club de Paris, Shiny Toy Guns, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Good Shoes, and The Diamond Hoo Haa Men.
