SNAP! CRAKK! began life as Snap! Crack! Le-Pop!, an Adelaide synth-pop outfit playing house parties alongside bands from the local underground hardcore scene. As the band moved out of lounge rooms and into more traditional venues, the simple synth-pop of the band's earlier material soon gave way to a darker sound, newer members, a truncated name and a brand new city. Relocating to Melbourne, SNAP! CRAKK! joined a burgeoning electronic post-punk scene that would pave the way for the future success of Australian acts such as The Presets...
